Compassion United Breaks Ground on New Day Center, Announces November Events for Homelessness and Hunger Awareness Month
Montgomery County, October 23, 2024 — Compassion United is excited to announce the groundbreaking of its new Day Center on October 25th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Miracle City campus, marking a significant expansion in services for the homeless and marginalized in Montgomery County. The Day Center will provide essential resources such as meals, laundry, showers, and shared office spaces for partner agencies. Community members, local leaders, and supporters are invited to join Compassion United for this momentous occasion as they celebrate a new chapter in providing essential services to those in need.
In addition to this momentous occasion, Compassion United is pleased to announce a series of events throughout November in honor of Homelessness and Hunger Awareness Month:

November 4th: Poverty Simulation in partnership with Leadership Montgomery County.

November 8th: Food Insecurity Event featuring special guest Kristine Marlowe from the Montgomery County Food Bank.

November 16-17: Cardboard City, an immersive experience for high school juniors and seniors, including a cardboard city challenge and poverty simulation.

November 23rd: Resource Fair at Lewis Park, connecting the community with organizations providing free and low-cost services.

November 23rd: Thanksgiving Food Drive drop-off at Miracle City (donation bags and lists available now).
