Introduction
Montgomery County Food Bank is hiring a Director of Development to join our growing organization! This is a full-time on-site opportunity in Conroe, TX, serving the Montgomery County area. As a leader of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the President & CEO, this position is high visibility, high impact, yet hands on role, with responsibility to provide the full range of day-to-day support across the organization.

POSITION: Director of Development
DEPARTMENT: Development
REPORTS TO: President & CEO
HOURS: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday, with some evenings and weekends on a regular basis as required. Work is in-person includes in-office work and outside meetings/events.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Development manages a team responsible for planning, organizing, and managing all fundraising activities to meet the Food Bank’s financial goals, forecasting future income, and developing/nurturing the relationships with donors. The department is responsible for communicating the mission and value of the Montgomery County Food Bank (MCFB) to the community and engaging community support.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet the financial needs of the food bank.
- Develop and gain approval for an annual income and expenditure budget, report on actual performance monthly.
- Identify and develop relationships with current and potential corporate and foundation sponsors and individual donors; meet donors and supporters on a regular basis.
- Identify and engage in planned giving gift identification, solicitation cultivation and stewardship
- Create and participate in programs to thank and steward donors.
- Oversee a robust grants program: identify potential sources and oversee application/follow up process.
- Develop and implement a successful major gifts program.
- Oversee the administration of detailed donor accounts.
- Develop and oversee fundraising events.
- Develop and manage timelines for fundraising activities to ensure fundraising processes are carried out in a timely manner.
- Train and lead staff and volunteers to support fundraising, outreach and marketing efforts.
- Lead the organization’s Development Committee comprised of Board members serving as an advisory committee.
- Work productively and collaboratively with the MCFB leadership team.
- Other duties as assigned by the President & CEO
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of fundraising strategies/principles
- Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Project management or account management skills
- Strong ability to build/maintain relationships and establish trust.
- Ability to multi-task
- Excellent management and supervisory skills
- Creative, self-starter attitude, and takes initiative.
- Deadline driven.
- Time management and flexibility with job duties
- Proficient computer skills required to include MS Office Suite and donor and/or fundraising database platforms
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university or equivalent fundraising & development experience
- Five years’ experience in fund development and marketing with positive results highly preferred
- Previous management experience
- Raiser’s Edge knowledge/experience preferred.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Travel - up to 30% travel time mainly within Montgomery County area.
- Valid Texas Driver License.
- Dependable transportation.
WORK SCHEDULE:
MCFB Operation hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
- Must be willing to commit to working in the office with flexible office hours for events and community networking with travel, including some evenings and weekends.
- Participation in all MCFB major fundraising events is required.
