Marketing Communications Manager
Position: Manager, Marketing and Communications
Reports To: Director, Marketing and Communications
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
Classification: Exempt
Position Objective: The Manager of Marketing and Communication is responsible for contributing to and executing Chamber branding & marketing/promotional materials…including but not limited to newsletters, magazines, electronic communications, event branding, advertising, video production and social media. This position is also responsible for assisting in other Chamber functions including fundraising activities, ribbon cuttings, networking events and promotions. The position requires a high level of communications skills, both interpersonal, group and mass communications.
Responsibilities:
General Duties
1. Serve as liaison/advisor to all Chamber committees as time allows.
2. Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities.
3. Responsible for additional duties as time and development allow.
Publications/Communications
1. Serve as primary editor for the Chamber e-newsletter. Ensure appropriate design protocols in keeping with the Chamber’s brand and marketing objectives. Write copy, solicit advertisers and edit submitted articles and photos as needed.
2. With direction and leadership from the Director of Marketing and Communications, develop and execute marketing strategy to attain new members, retain existing members, promote special events and secure sponsorships.
3. Oversee Chamber social media platforms and build engagement from our constituents.
4. Serve as photographer at Chamber events and in the community.
5. Work with all necessary entities to create the annual Chamber directory. Secure graphic design and printing and mailing bids; work with President on selection of services. Create cover designs, internal content and distribution strategies.
6. Work with staff, printers and volunteer committees to design collateral for events such as programs, invitations, signage, etc.
7. Work with Chamber staff to publish and send out weekly e-newsletter and announcements as well as maintain the Community Calendar.
8. Oversee Chamber website and work with staff to keep site up-to-date, user-friendly and within marketing objectives.
9. Adhere to branding guidelines and train staff to operate within those guidelines.
10. Other marketing-related duties as assigned.
Event Marketing and Project Management
1. Work with Director of Special Events as well as volunteers to assist, as-needed, in planning Chamber events. These include but are not limited to: chamber luncheons, ribbon-cutting events, Fun After Five events, Morning Mingle networking breakfasts, annual events including: Lobsterfest, Tastefest, Chairman’s Ball, Job Fair, Leadercast, and/or other events that may be initiated.
2. Responsible for the production of promotional event branding including signage, flyers, invitations, programs, all event materials, etc. in partnership with appropriate staff.
3. Work with the Vice President of Operations & Finance and President, to create budgets, track revenues and expenses for any product/service under direct responsibility and provide financial reports on completion of projects.
4. Coordinate the scheduling, marketing and promotion of Chamber programming.
Requirements
College degree, preferably in marketing, communications or an equivalent discipline.
2-5 years minimum experience in a business setting working with volunteers and/or clients to provide services.
Demonstrated graphic design and writing skills.
Demonstrated proficiency working in InDesign, Photoshop, Canva, and/or other design platforms.
Proven record of executing strategic social media and email campaigns
Demonstrated interpersonal communications skills.
Experience with assessing marketing and communication initiatives, including but not limited
to Google Analytics, survey tools such as SurveyMonkey, Hootsuite, Facebook/Instagram and
other social media platform analytics.
Experience planning and executing events/projects in collaboration with others.
Most work performed at the chamber’s office, 505 W. Davis St., Conroe, Texas
