Conroe Celebrates Arbor Day February 16

Arbor Day will be celebrated in Conroe on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 9 am to 1 pm in Founder’s Plaza in historic downtown Conroe. This event features FREE trees for all Conroe residents. The only requirements for this gift of free trees are that you plant those trees in Conroe and take care of them.

Tree seedlings include Southern Crabapple, Bald Cypress, Mayhaw, Cherrybark Oak, Shumard Oak, White Oak, and Yellow Popular. A limited number of free 15-gallon trees will also be available. This event is facilitated by ROOT FOR CONROE for its nineth year.

Tree seedlings are provided through the generosity of the Texas A & M Forest Service located in Jesse Jones State Forest. The 15-gallon potted hardwood are available through the generosity of TREES FOR HOUSTON and Chevron USA. Tree planting information will be available with each tree. The Montgomery County Master Gardeners will be assisting in handing out trees and providing free gardening tips.

Event Chair Ron Saikowski says, “This is a FAMILY Event. This event is always timed with the Rodeo Parade which will begin at 1 PM. Trees will be available on a “first come-first served basis” for all Conroe residents. This event is everyone’s opportunity to plant more trees in Conroe and green up Conroe.” This event satisfies one of the four requirements in order for the City of Conroe to be designated as a TREE CITY USA municipality.

ROOT FOR CONROE thanks the Texas A &M Forestry Service, the Montgomery County Master Gardeners, Chevron USA, TREES FOR HOUSTON, The Courier, Conroe Live, Inc. and other generous benefactors. For more information, contact Ron Saikowski at
