Named for Texas’s greatest hero, Sam Houston State University (SHSU) continually honors its historical roots through academic excellence. For more than 140 years, SHSU has been preparing students for meaningful lives of achievement. Its motto, “The measure of a Life is its Service,” resonates among its approximately 21,612 students, eight colleges and well beyond its Huntsville roots.
The SHSU College of Osteopathic Medicine, located in Grand Central Park in Conroe, is only the third college of osteopathic medicine in Texas. Its mission is to train physicians who will serve the healthcare needs of rural and underserved Texans.
SHSU-The Woodlands Center, open since 2012, boasts a variety of degree programs – undergraduate, masters, and doctoral. Students are able to earn degrees from numerous colleges including College of Business Administration, College of Education, and the College of Science & Engineering Technology. SHSU-TWC is also home to the Sam Houston State University School of Nursing.
The Sam Houston State University Small Business Development Center opened an office in The Woodlands Center. SHSU-SBDC is a business advising and training center of the University of Houston Texas Gulf Coast SBDC Network serving 32 counties in Southeast Texas.?The SBDC program is funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
