Hoyt\, president of Sam Houston State University \n\n\n\nNominations were solicited and the top five finalists were selected by a committee from ATHENA International. The ATHENA sculpture is awarded to an individual in the community who meets specific criteria in professional excellence\, community involvement\, leadership and involvement from the finalist. The finalist will be honored at the luncheon. The recipient will be announced at the luncheon. The five finalists are Frankie Alexander\, Nelda Blair\, Melanie Bush\, Marilyn Kasmiersky and Dr. Marlen Tejeda.\n\n\n\nFor attendees at the luncheon: All white attire is encouraged\, business attire required. \n\n\n\nThe ATHENA Committee and the Chamber is proud to have Dr. Dana G. Hoyt as the guest speaker for the luncheon this year. Dr. Hoyt became Sam Houston State University?s 13th president on Sept. 1\, 2010\, following unanimous approval by The Texas State University System. She is the first female president in the university?s history.\n\n\n\nA Certified Public Accountant since 1984\, Dr. Hoyt began her career in private industry and in the education sector for more than 30 years. In 2009\, she joined Sam Houston State University as vice president for finance and operations.\n\n\n\nDr. Hoyt was been awarded the Texas Woman?s University Distinguished Alumna\, Southern Methodist University Administrator of the Year and National Diversity Council Award "2015 Texas Most Powerful and Influential Women".
